3 years agoWashington Nationals catcher Yan Gomes is getting the day off on Thursday as the team faces Tucker Davidson and the Atlanta Braves. Alex Avila is starting behind the plate and batting eighth in the game. Gomes had started the team's previous five games, so he was due for a day off. Through 36 games on the year, Gomes is slashing .258/.291/.430 with five home runs, 17 RBI and 16 runs. He's a strong No. 2 catcher in two-catcher leagues, but in most one-catcher leagues, he can be left on waivers.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
