Yadier Molina Hits First Homer Of Season
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals veteran catcher Yadier Molina hit his first home run of the season in a 7-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. The 38-year-old's two-run blast jumpstarted the offense. First baseman Paul Goldschmidt had an RBI single in the eighth inning, and outfielder Dylan Carlson hit a grand slam in the ninth. In six games, Molina is second on the team in RBI (seven), average (.316) and on-base percentage (.364), and he's third with an .890 OPS. He was playing in his 2,031st career game and his 1,995th behind the plate. Molina is the veteran leader of this club and is a future Hall of Famer. He's off to a great start offensively, but fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting big things from him on the offensive side.
