4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Yacksel Rios has been placed on the 10-day injured list as he battles inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Rios averaged 96.2 mph on his fastball last season, having thrown a significant amount of sinkers over the previous two years. But thus far in 2020, he has scrapped the pitch, with his fastball velocity dipping to an average of 94.4 mph. The results thus far haven’t been promising, as he has allowed four runs in four innings. His loss is the latest in a string of injuries that have decimated Pittsburgh’s bullpen, which has produced a 5.88 ERA coming into play Tuesday.--Jesse Borek
