Xavier Worthy Should See More Targets
6 months agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy will face the New Orleans Saints on Monday night in Week 5. The Chiefs rookie receiver had three catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in last week's contest against the Los Angeles Chargers. Worthy has seen exactly four targets in the previous three games and has yet to surpass 100 receiving yards this season. With the loss of Marquise Brown and, more recently, Rashee Rice to injured reserve, the Chiefs may need Worthy to step up. Worthy has also had five carries this season, so the Kansas City coaching staff is finding ways to get the ball into his hands. The Saints defense should also be a favorable matchup for the rookie receiver this week. The Saints have given up the ninth-most passing yards to opposing offenses this season, so Worthy should have the opportunity for a big game this week. Despite the matchup and loss of receivers, Worthy's role in the passing attack is not clearly defined yet. The Chiefs rookie should remain in the flex range, given his small role thus far, but that could easily change after this week's contest.

Xavier Worthy Scores Twice In Super Bowl Debut
1 month agoKansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy caught eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the 22-40 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Worthy was the lone bright spot for Kansas City in this contest, catching multiple 50-yard passes from Mahomes. The 21-year-old showed off his speed on the game's final touchdown, beating two safeties to the end zone for a 50-yard score. The speedy rookie led the team in catches, receiving yards, and targets. Worthy took center stage with Travis Kelce underperforming in this contest. Worthy put together one of the best Super Bowl performances by a rookie, but most of his production came well after this game was out of hand. Despite suffering this huge loss, Worthy showed that he can perform at the highest level and should be poised for more growth next season.

Xavier Worthy To Play In His First Super Bowl
1 month agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has blossomed into the top receiver for the team in his rookie season. The Chiefs will rely on Worthy to make plays in his first Super Bowl appearance against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend. The 21-year-old caught six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills. Worthy received nearly twice as many targets as Travis Kelce in the biggest game of the year to that point. All signs point to the Chiefs relying on Worthy again on Sunday against one of the most formidable defenses in the league. The record-breaking speedster has demonstrated tremendous growth down the stretch and has even hauled in some highlight catches in recent weeks. Worthy is an easy play in both DFS and playoff leagues for the last game of the NFL season.

Xavier Worthy Leads Receivers In AFC Championship Win
2 months agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy caught six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in the 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills. The rookie showed up in the AFC Championship game, scoring an 11-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Worthy led the Chiefs in catches, receiving yards, and targets in the crucial win to send Kansas City to their third-straight Super Bowl appearance. The 21-year-old has become the most reliable wide receiver for Patrick Mahomes and should be a vital piece of the game plan for the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Worthy will have to contend with the Philadelphia Eagles, who had one of the best defenses in the league this season. The Eagles lost to the Chiefs in the 2023 Super Bowl, so they will have some extra motivation to even the score. Worthy will look to continue being a top option for Mahomes in the biggest game of his life.
