Xavier Edwards Not Playing On Saturday
3 months agoMiami Marlins infielder Xavier Edwards (back) is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs at LoanDepot Park and is undergoing imaging on his back after being pulled from Friday night's contest with a lower-back injury. Vidal Brujan is filling in at shortstop and will bat eighth, while rookie third baseman Connor Norby moves up to the leadoff spot against Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga. It's unclear how much time Edwards might miss, but fantasy managers need to prepare for a potential injured-list stint. The 25-year-old is currently riding a five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-17 (.353) with a double, triple, four RBI and two stolen bases. Edwards only has 172 at-bats in 2024, but he's impressed by hitting .349 (60-for-172) with 22 stolen bases and 25 runs scored. Brujan would become Miami's starter at the 6 most likely if Edwards is forced to miss extended time.
