Xavier Edwards Back With The Fish
5 months agoThe Miami Marlins are recalling infielder Xavier Edwards from Triple-A Jacksonville after designating shortstop Tim Anderson for assignment on Tuesday. With Anderson now out of the picture in Miami, there will be more playing time for both Edwards and Vidal Brujan at shortstop with the Marlins looking toward the future. Edwards showed hints of his ability at the 6 when he covered for Anderson when he was on the bereavement list earlier this year, and while he still hasn't homered in 95 MLB plate appearances since debuting in 2023, Edwards has hit .287 (25-for-87) overall with five stolen bases. The 24-year-old switch-hitter is certainly worth picking up off the waiver wire in NL-only leagues for his speed, at the very least, now that he has a path to more playing time the rest of this season.
