Xander Bogaerts Still Far From Game Action
5 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (ankle) is "still a ways away" from appearing in spring training games, according to interim manager Ron Roenicke. The 27-year-old suffered the ankle soreness early in camp but has been able to take batting practice and field grounders to this point. It is unclear as to when Bogaerts will be able to join the Red Sox lineup this spring, but his status for Opening Day is not a major concern at the moment according to Roenicke. Bogaerts is coming off of a career-year across a variety of statistics in 2019, making the 27-year-old shortstop one of the top players at his position heading into the 2020 season.
