Xander Bogaerts Makes Spring Training Debut
5 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (ankle) made his first appearance of the spring and finished 0-for-2 at the plate with two strikeouts, while batting third in the lineup against right-handed starting pitcher Ivan Nova and serving as the designated hitter in Wednesday's 13-9 loss against the Tigers. Bogaerts was delayed at the start of camp due to a sore left ankle, but the 27-year-old appears to have put the issue behind him as he was back in action for the first time this spring. Bogaerts will look to replicate his success of last season and heads into 2020 as a must-own player across all fantasy formats, as the 27-year-old posted totals of 110 runs scored, 33 home runs, 117 RBI, 52 doubles, four stolen bases and a slash line of .309/.384/.555 through 155 appearances.
