10 months agoTexas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford is not in Saturday's lineup as they continue a three-game rematch of the 2010 World Series against the San Francisco Giants. The rookie has started in nine straight games since returning from the injured list with a hamstring injury. During this span, the former Florida Gator has tallied eight hits and an overall .235/.257/.324 line. As a result, Travis Jankowski will serve as the starting left fielder Saturday afternoon. Jankowski will bat in the seven-hole and is worth a look in DFS as he will face Spencer Howard, who has logged just eight ⅔ innings this season and holds a 2.08 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

1 month agoTexas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (oblique) will make his Cactus League debut on Friday and is hitting third and serving as the designated hitter against the Colorado Rockies. Langford is just now ready to play in spring games after missing the first couple weeks of spring training games due to a mild oblique strain. The 23-year-old will take it slow and start off by serving as the DH, but he'll now have three weeks to get up to full speed before Opening Day later this month on March 27 against the Boston Red Sox. The former fourth overall pick last year out of the University of Florida slashed .253/.325/.415 with a .740 OPS, 16 home runs, 74 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 74 runs scored in 134 games in his MLB debut in 2024 and is one of the best young outfield power/speed threats in the game. In what should be a better Rangers lineup in 2025, Langford is a top-20 fantasy outfielder.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 month agoTexas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (oblique) is expected to make his Cactus League debut on Friday against the Colorado Rockies, weather pending. Langford was sidelined early in camp due to a mild oblique strain, but he hasn't had any setbacks while resuming baseball activities and is on track to play in his first spring training game later this week. If the 23-year-old doesn't aggravate his oblique muscle once he gets into games, he will have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day in late March. Meanwhile, fellow outfielder Adolis Garcia, who is also dealing with an oblique strain, should also be ready for Opening Day. Langford should be considered a top-20 fantasy outfielder because of his power/speed upside heading into just his second MLB season. The former fourth overall pick hit .253/.325/.415 with 16 homers, 74 RBI and 19 steals in his first 139 big-league games in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 month agoTexas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (oblique) is getting very close to making his return to Cactus League games after being diagnosed with a mild left-oblique strain on Feb. 21. "He's about ready to go," manager Bruce Bochy said. "Right now he's doing his thing in the cages, doing his thing, letting it go. You'll see him here soon in a few days." The 23-year-old has been out of action since, but he resumed light baseball activities last Wednesday and worked in the batting cages over the weekend. Barring a setback with his oblique once he resumes playing in Cactus League games, Langford will be ready to rock for Opening Day in late March. Because of his exciting mix of power and speed in a strong Texas lineup, fantasy managers should consider Langford to be a top-20 outfielder despite his small setback early in spring training due to an oblique pull.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 month agoTexas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (oblique) has resumed light baseball activities at camp and said he's "feeling great," according to the Dallas Morning News' Shawn McFarland. Langford threw and ran the bases on Wednesday. It's great news for Langford, who suffered a mild oblique strain in spring training last week. There's still plenty of time for the 23-year-old to recover before Opening Day in late March, but oblique injuries can be tricky to return from, so his status bears watching once he resumes swinging a bat. For now, though, Langford's injury shouldn't negatively affect his fantasy draft stock. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 15 fantasy outfielder because of his power/speed upside in what should be a stronger Rangers lineup in 2025. The former fourth overall pick in 2023 hit .253/.325/.415 with 16 homers, 74 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 134 games in his rookie season in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
