Wilyer Abreu "Feeling A Lot Better"
6 months agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu (ankle) sprinted outside on Saturday, according to manager Alex Cora, who said on Sunday that Abreu is "feeling a lot better," and his recovery is "moving faster than everybody predicted." Abreu saw a foot specialist, and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said that nothing was revealed beyond the initial diagnosis of a sprain. The 24-year-old suffered the injury stumbling on the dugout steps on June 2 and sprained his right ankle. Before going on the injured list, Abreu was one of the best all-around hitters on the team, slashing .272/.344/.485 with six home runs, 14 doubles and 22 RBI while playing great defense in right field. Regression is expected for Abreu in the second half of the season, but fantasy managers in all formats should continue to ride him until that happens.
