Wily Peralta Gives Up Grand Slam
6 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Wily Peralta was tentatively slated to be in the mix for closing duties in KC this season, but that dream should be pretty much dead by this point. Coming into Saturday's game with the Tigers, Peralta had already allowed three earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings pitched. His ERA was worse when he was done. Peralta was called in to put out the fire after Kevin McCarthy allowed one runner to score and put two on with the Royals hanging on to a tight one-run lead. Peralta was able to coax an out before he walked a man and gave up a grand slam that would be the stake in KC's heart. The main concern coming into the season for Peralta was his wildness. At this point, they should probably focus on his overall terrible pitching.
