Wilson Ramos Continues To Produce Monday Versus Detroit
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos continued to look good for scouts Monday versus the Tigers. He would reach base twice and came around to score both times. One of them was a solo HR. Ramos is among the league leaders for hits as a catcher in 2018. He now has the 13 home runs and 48 RBI to go with a fantasy-friendly .291 batting average. The batting average and stats are much more appealing given the standards for catchers to be useful in fantasy. His 2015 season was an example of what success looks like for Ramos, as he hit 22 HRs with 80 runs batted in and a .307 batting average over 131 games played. There is also speculation that Ramos and Washington could be a good fit in the mid-season trade market. Washington could use some offensive help at the position and the Rays likely would like to get something for Ramos before he becomes a free agent. He has never been a major source of runs scored, but if he can stay healthy, he has the upside of a starter in most fantasy leagues. A trade to Washington might even help Ramos out slightly. If you have the bench space, the smart play is to pair Ramos with a steady catcher.
