Wilson Ramos Climbing Out Of Early Hole
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos has had a tough start to the season with the bat. After seven games, he was batting .115 with only three hits, one run scored and one run batted in. In the past four, he has raised the batting average to .171 and has added a two-run home run. Ramos spent much of the 2017 season fighting injuries. He only managed to play 64 games but still provided some flashes of his 2016 ability. He would hit 11 home runs while keeping the strikeouts low. His 2015 season was a success, as he hit 22 home runs with 80 runs batted in and a .307 batting average over 131 games played. He has never been a major source of runs scored, but if he can stay healthy, he has the upside of a starter in most fantasy leagues. If you have the bench space, the smart play is to pair Ramos with a steady catcher like a Russell Martin or Brian McCann despite the slow start.
