Wilmer Font Goes Four Innings In First Mets Start
6 years agoDays after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets pitcher Wilmer Font made his first start for the Mets. Taking on the San Diego Padres in a series finale, the 28-year-old went just four innings, allowing two runs on three hits while throwing 60 pitches in the process. Font's spot start, just the fifth of his career, came as a result of Steven Matz's forearm injury. All things considered, it wasn't a poor performance, with his offense being the biggest culprit in the loss. Still, Font was handed a no-decision as the losing run came in the latter stages of the game.
