5 years agoThe Chicago Cubs placed catcher Willson Contreras (foot) on the injured list on Monday with a strain of the arch on his right foot. The Cubs traded for catcher Martin Maldonado on Monday as a result, and he will split playing time behind the dish with Victor Caratini for however long Contreras is out. It's a tough break for the Cubs and Contreras' fantasy owners, as he was hitting a cool .286/.382/.565 with 19 home runs, 43 runs and 55 RBI on the year as one of the most productive fantasy catchers around. The good news is he's not expected to miss more than the minimum of 10 days.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
