Willson Contreras Drives In Two Runs Thursday At Atlanta
6 years agoChicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras continued his recent trend of mixed results for fantasy with his output Thursday versus the Braves. He has only had one multiple-hit game among his last 10 he has recorded an at-bat in. However, in the last eight such games, he has scored six runs while driving in five. The five RBI includes the two he drove in over the first three innings of the game Thursday. The truth is that Contreras has been a bit of a disappointment in fantasy so far in 2018 despite making the All-Star game and catching more innings this season than any other catcher in the majors. It is important to separate out the idea of fantasy value and worth in the actual game, as he is a very good catcher for the Cubs who simply is struggling with his counting stats that matter in standard fantasy scoring. He still has upside in longer-term leagues, both in real life and fantasy.
