Willie Gay Signs One-Year Deal With Dolphins
59 seconds agoFree-agent linebacker Willie Gay signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Gay will head back to the AFC after spending the 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints, where he had a career-low 28 tackles (19 solo), two sacks, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 15 games (eight starts). The 27-year-old was originally a second-round pick (63rd overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 out of Mississippi State. In Miami, we'd expect Gay to be competing for a depth role at the linebacker spot this summer in training camp. He's well off the IDP fantasy radar at the position, with his best season coming in 2022 with the Chiefs, when he had 88 tackles (51 solo), 2.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, an interception returned for a touchdown, eight passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 13 regular-season starts.
