William Byron Has Major Advantages For Strong Run At Pocono
1 year agoQualifying at Pocono Raceway was held on Saturday afternoon, and it was William Byron who earned his fourth pole of the season (and his second ever at Pocono). Starting up front is always an advantage in NASCAR, as is having the very first pit stall at Pocono--to the tune of about 0.4 seconds per stop. When you add in the fact that Byron has one of the fastest pit crews in the garage, that's a recipe for success on Sunday. Additionally, Byron has a fast car, as the No. 24 Chevrolet ranked fastest in both five- and 10-lap average during practice on Saturday. Byron has never won at Pocono Raceway but he leads all active drivers with a 9.4 average finish at this track. He should definitely be able to contend for his series-leading fifth win of the year on Sunday.
