3 years agoQuarterback Will Grier was claimed off waivers by the Cowboys. Grier, formerly of the Carolina Panthers, immediately enters the picture as the primary backup for starter Dak Prescott in Dallas. After somewhat surprisingly releasing presumed second string quarterback Garrett Gilbert earlier in the week, the Cowboys were left with just Cooper Rush in the quarterback room behind their starter. The team has reportedly shown interest in former Panthers and Patriots signal caller Cam Newton, and Grier would of course shift to third at best on the depth chart if Newton were signed. For now, Grier shouldn't have too hard of a time taking Rush's spot as Prescott's primary clipboard holder.
