3 years agoThe Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a catcher swap. Zack Collins is headed to Toronto while Reese McGuire is on his way to Chicago. While it may seem like a perplexing trade on the surface, the reasoning behind it for both teams appears sound. In McGuire, the White Sox will have a more proven backup behind starter Yasmani Grandal. As for the Blue Jays, the club is loaded at catcher and the franchise wanted to reduce that depth. Collins has a minor league option left on his contract so he'll be headed to Triple-A while the team goes with just Danny Jansen and Alejandro Kirk as catching options to open the year.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
