White Sox Sign Jake Marisnick To Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe Chicago White Sox signed free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, according to a source. Marisnick, a big-league veteran of 10 seasons, spent the 2022 campaign with the Pittsburgh Pirates and hit .234/.272/.390 with a .661 OPS, two home runs, six RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases in 82 plate appearances over just 31 games. The 31-year-old has always been a defense-first player with some decent speed on the base paths, but he doesn't bring much to the table offensively with a career slash line of .228/.281/.384 with 63 home runs in 831 games played. Marisnick has been much better against left-handed pitchers in his career and should battle for Chicago's fourth outfield spot in spring training.
