White Sox Land Prospect Jake Eder From Marlins
1 year agoThe Chicago White Sox are acquiring left-handed pitching prospect Jake Eder from the Miami Marlins in exchange for third baseman Jake Burger on Tuesday, according to sources. Eder was the Marlins' No. 4 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. The 24-year-old southpaw already had Tommy John surgery in 2021 and has posted a 4.12 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 21 walks and 48 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings over nine starts this year with Single-A Jupiter and Double-A Pensacola. There's a lot to like about Eder's fastball-slider combination, and he's also developing a nice changeup as his third offering. Given Miami's pretty stacked stable of pitching prospects, Eder could reach the majors quicker in his new home in Chicago.
