Whit Merrifield Homers In Sunday's Win Over Red Sox
3 years agoKansas City Royals second baseman/outfielder Whit Merrifield helped lead the team to a strong offensive performance against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Merrifield went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs in the team's 7-3 victory. The home run was just his sixth of the year and his first since June 4. Merrifield is slashing .274/.326/.412 over 70 games on the year. He leads the Majors with 20 stolen bases. His slugging percentage (.412) is the lowest its been since his rookie year back in 2016. He has a career slugging percentage of .440. His xSLG is also .412, so we might just see minimal power from Merrifield this year. Even with reduced power numbers, Merrifield's strong contact hitting and elite stolen base production should provide plenty for fantasy managers to be content with.
