What Should You Do With Joey Logano This Weekend At Charlotte Motor Speedway?
6 months agoJoey Logano, fresh off of winning the 2024 All-Star race, will start 28th in Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. While last weekend's race made no impact on the playoff standings, winning a premium exhibition by leading all but one lap was just the type of outing this team needed. The question now becomes, will the momentum from last weekend carry over to Charlotte on Sunday night for one of NASCAR's crown jewel events? In 25 starts at this track, on this configuration, the Team Penske star has a win (2015), six top-five finishes, and 11 top-10s, which is the fourth most top-10s among full-time drivers in the series. Interestingly, in these 25 starts, the 17-year Cup veteran has an average start of 13.1 and an average finish of 13.1, which shows he tends to maintain track position at this venue. Although the overall data at Charlotte is solid and consistent, the DFS data in the Next Gen car is not quite as positive for the future Hall of Famer, who just turned 34 years old on Friday. In his two Coca-Cola 600 starts in the Next Gen car, the former two-time Cup Series champion is averaging 24.20 DraftKings points, which ranks him 26th in the series. Likewise, in the 17 races since 2022 on similar intermediates to Charlotte, Logano's average DraftKings score is 28.22, which ranks 15th in the series. Because of this, you will want to use some caution before going overweight on the No. 22 this weekend. However, given that his salary is just $8,800 on DraftKings and that his starting position provides tremendous place differential upside, he is a driver you will want to have some exposure to (max 15%) in DFS this weekend.
