Wayne Gallman Gets Chance With Saquon Barkley Out
5 years agoNew York Giants running back Wayne Gallman will get his first start of the season on Sunday with Saquon Barkley dealing with a high ankle sprain. As of Wednesday, the Giants haven't signed any other running backs, meaning that Gallman will be backed up by converted fullback Elijhaa Penny and practice-squad call-up Jon Hillman. That's a clear signal that Gallman is expected to carry the load for the team; however, with how good Daniel Jones looked in his first start, the Giants could very easily go pass-heavy against a bad secondary. In fact, that's the strategy teams have taken this year as the Redskins have allowed the 9th fewest fantasy points to RBs. Gallman is not a game-breaker, and the Giants are likely to let Jones air it out, so the Giants' new running back can't be counted on as anything more than an RB3 or FLEX in deep leagues and will likely be over-rostered in DFS.
