Washington Signs Jonathan Williams To One-Year Deal
3 years agoThe Washington Football Team signed running back Jonathan Williams and cornerback Corn Elder to one-year deals on Tuesday. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. Williams and Elder will remain with Washington through the 2022 season. Williams, 27, played in just five games in 2021 and had 17 carries for 79 yards and one touchdown while also catching four passes for an additional 28 yards in the passing game. Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and rookie Jaret Patterson were ahead of Williams on the RB depth chart, so it's no surprise that he didn't see the field much. There's a chance that Williams could move up the depth chart if McKissic goes elsewhere in free agency, but Williams still wouldn't be attractive in single-year fantasy leagues.

Jonathan Williams Suffers Concussion On Sunday
1 year agoWashington Commanders running back Jonathan Williams (head) didn't return to Sunday's matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. With Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring) unavailable, Williams was in the lineup for Week 15. However, he was ruled out with a concussion, ending his day with one carry for negative yardage. At any rate, Williams was on the field versus the Rams for depth purposes, so the injury won't impact fantasy managers heading into the Week 16 meeting with the New York Jets.

Jonathan Williams Heading To Injured Reserve
2 years agoThe Washington Commanders are placing veteran running back Jonathan Williams (undisclosed) on injured reserve. That means rookie sixth-round pick Chris Rodriguez Jr. wins the No. 3 running back job, behind Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson. The 29-year-old Williams started two games for the Commanders in 2022, ending the season with 37 carries for 152 yards. He also caught seven passes for 40 yards in 13 games.

Jonathan Williams At No. 3 On Depth Chart
2 years agoWashington Commanders running backs Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson are at the top of the team's RB depth chart, with Jonathan Williams operating as the No. 3 option. Meanwhile, rookie sixth-rounder Chris Rodriguez Jr. is just trying to get as many repetitions as possible heading into his first NFL season. Williams may have to hold off Rodriguez and Jaret Patterson for touches in 2023 behind Robinson and Gibson, but the 29-year-old can also contribute on special teams. In his second year with Washington in 2022, Williams had 37 carries for 152 yards and caught seven passes for 40 yards in 13 games (two starts). Unless one of Robinson or Gibson miss time with an injury, Williams will remain off the fantasy radar this year.

Jonathan Williams Re-Signs With Washington
2 years agoFree-agent running back Jonathan Williams has agreed to a one-year deal to remain in Washington. The 29-year-old was used sparingly outside special teams last season, finishing with 152 yards off 37 carries while amassing seven catches for 40 yards. Williams' role with the Commanders likely won't change, so he won't see much interest from managers during fantasy drafts heading into Week 1.
