Wander Franco To Miss Five-To-Eight Weeks
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco (wrist) is officially set to undergo surgery to repair his fractured hamate bone. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Franco's projected recovery timeline is five-to-eight weeks. This means that the earliest we could see Franco back in the majors would be mid-August, but there's a chance we won't see him again until early September. The 21-year-old started off the year strong, slashing .313/.333/.578 in April, but he cooled off significantly after that. He owns a .260/.308/.396 slash line over 58 games on the season to go along with five home runs, five stolen bases, 23 RBI and 34 runs.
