3 years agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Wander Franco (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. He exited Friday's 10-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers with hamstring tightness. The rookie phenom will undergo an MRI on Saturday but is expected to miss the next 2-to-3 weeks at the minimum; hopefully, he can return by the end of the season. Franco is slashing .285/.347/.463 with seven home runs, 36 RBI, 49 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 271 plate appearances in 2021. Shortstop Taylor Walls was recalled from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Walls struggled in his previous stint in majors, slashing .203/.301/.305 in 147 plate appearances.
