Walker Buehler Optioned To Rancho Cucamonga After Victory
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter Walker Buehler recovered nicely after stumbling in the first inning against the Giants, getting his first ever career win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. After the game, however, he was optioned to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, indicating that he'll be back with the major league club soon. Two singles, a walk and a wild pitch allowed two runs in the first. But Buehler next retired 14 of his last 16 batters, striking out six with no one reaching second base. He now owns an unsightly 1.40 WHIP, owing to his four walks versus 11 strikeouts in two outings, but he's still among the league's best pitching prospects. It's worth noting that he'll have his innings capped at around 150. If you can sustain his frequent call-ups, he's worth keeping on your bench. No word yet on if he'll go with the team for their series against the Padres in Mexico this week, but Rancho Cucamonga is a short drive from L.A., meaning he'll be back sooner rather than later.
