Wade Davis Playing Catch
5 years agoColorado Rockies closer Wade Davis (oblique), who is on the injured list with a left oblique strain, has been playing catch for three days. However, he hasn't been scheduled to throw off a mound yet. Oblique strains can often sidelined pitchers for a month or more, so this is good progress for Davis. The 33-year-old had a 2.45 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, seven saves and 18 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings over 17 outings before his injury. He should return to his closing role when he's deemed ready to return from the injured list. Scott Oberg has been filling in for Davis in the meantime but has yet to record a save of his own.
