Wade Davis Locks Down Fifth Save
6 years agoColorado Rockies closer Wade Davis threw a scoreless ninth inning against the Diamondbacks on Sunday to put his fifth save in the books. Davis worked around an error he committed, and got the heart of Arizona's lineup out to finish the job. Davis hasn't had nearly as good of stuff as he has the last few seasons, but he's been stumbling his way through getting the job done so far. His ridiculous 6.17 BB/9 is completely untenable, but he's been showing progress at getting it down by only walking two batters in his last five appearances. With Colorado's entire bullpen in shambles, Davis has no real competition for the job at this point, and his ERA is a tidy 0.77 as he's been able to work around the baserunners so far. That said, if he continues to put guys on at such a high rate, they'll eventually start making their way around to home.
