Wade Davis Gives Up More Runs
6 years agoColorado Rockies closer Wade Davis was handed a four-run lead on Tuesday, and he ended up allowing a couple of the runs to score. Though he gave up one earned run, it really wasn't too bad of an outing, as both runs scored on standard ground-outs where the defense prioritized the out over holding the runner. Following a lead-off walk, Davis gave up an infield single. An errant throw by third baseman Nolan Arenado allowed both runners to advance to scoring position, and they would eventually come home even though Davis never allowed another runner. It wasn't Davis' cleanest effort, but it got the job done. Davis has been rocky recently and he already has more blown saves this season than he's ever had, but he's still got very good stuff and should be solid moving forward. If he stumbles, expect uber reliever Adam Ottavino to step in.
