Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Takes Over Home Run Lead
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took sole possession of first place for the major-league lead in home runs on Monday by blasting his 45th long ball of the season in the club's 8-1 win over the Rays. His sixth-inning solo shot was a bullet down the left field line for his third dinger in his last four games and his fifth over his last seven contests. After a quieter month of August, Guerrero has been on fire so far in September with a hit in 12 of 13 games to push his average to .318 on the year. He currently sits second in the majors in BA, first in runs (114), and third in RBI (103) in his age-22 season, living up to the hype of a former top prospect and future first round fantasy pick for the coming years.
