Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Scratched From Monday's Lineup
5 months agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hand) was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Houston Astros. Despite getting hit on the hand in Sunday's loss, Guerrero was originally in Toronto's lineup ahead of its series opener, batting third and starting at first base. However, he was later removed from the lineup due to "right fourth/fifth finger discomfort." It appears that the slugging first baseman is still feeling some soreness after getting hit in the hand one day before. The good news is that his X-rays were negative for any fractures, so for now, Guerrero is likely day-to-day. UPDATE: Guerrero tried to hit before Monday's game and "wasn't comfortable squeezing the bat," manager John Schneider said. Guerrero wasn't available off the bench late in the 3-1 loss, and the team will see how he's feeling on Tuesday.
