Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Likely To Start At Triple-A
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said that third base prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the top overall prospect at MLB Pipeline, is expected to start the year at Triple-A Buffalo while Brandon Drury temporarily starts as the third baseman. The Blue Jays want to make sure that the 19-year-old phenom develops properly after playing in only 30 games at Triple-A last year. He needs to improve his defense and baserunning, but it's widely believed that Guerrero's bat is major-league ready right now, and he might already be the team's best hitter. If Toronto delays Guerrero's arrival, they could also keep him under team control for seven seasons, instead of the normal six. After slashing .381/.437/.636 in 95 minor league games last year, Vlad Jr. has potential to be a top-10 fantasy first baseman in his rookie season.
