Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Goes Deep In Win Over San Diego
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in a 4-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Thursday. Guerrero Jr. tacked on an important insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning on Thursday when he took Padres reliever Luis Garcia to the opposite field for his 15th home run of the season. The solo shot gave the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead at that point and catcher Alejandro Kirk would later extend that margin to 4-0 with a two-run blast of his own in the bottom of the eighth. Guerrero Jr. is batting just .208 over the last seven contests but he's gone deep twice over that span and does have six home runs over the last 30 games. Overall, the 24-year-old is slashing .272/.342/.451 with 15 home runs, 61 RBI, and four stolen bases over 364 at-bats. The Blue Jays now head out to Seattle for a three-game weekend series against the Mariners.
