7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez had his second consecutive positive outing Saturday for the Phillies this spring. Taking on the Tampa Bay Rays, the 25-year-old fired four shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out two. This follows his outing against the Minnesota Twins on Monday that saw him toss two shutout innings. While Velasquez’s spot in the starting rotation appears to be set, these performances will benefit his confidence heading into the season. The California native has flashed signs of incredible talent the past two seasons, but he has struggled for consistency and for good health.--RDelgado
