Vince Velasquez Removed With Elbow Discomfort
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez (elbow) was removed from Saturday's start against the Seattle Mariners with right elbow discomfort. He allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three across two innings before leaving. The 30-year-old just returned from the injured list on Saturday after missing the last few weeks with elbow inflammation. He exited Saturday's game with inflammation in the same elbow and is considered day-to-day. Velasquez owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts over 37 1/3 innings in 2023. The veteran right-hander's next start is in question, and the Pirates should have an update on Velasquez after further evaluation.
