Vikings Offensive Coordinator Praises Alexander Mattison
1 year agoMinnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison is set to take over the RB1 role after the team moved on from longtime starter Dalvin Cook this offseason. Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips believes Mattison is being slept on ahead of the 2023 campaign. "He's multifaceted in the run game, in pass protection, and then his hands in the passing game, and route running ability," Phillips said. "I think we're gonna see a lot of good things. Maybe people didn't realize how good a player Alexander Mattison really is." Many have questioned whether Mattison will be given a true workhorse role, but most signs points toward that happening in his age-25 season. Mattison has impressed in Cook's handful of absences over the last few seasons.
