Victor Scott II Retreats To The Bench
6 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Victor Scott II is heading to the bench for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field with Michael Siani (oblique) returning to center-field duties. Scott had started in center field for the Cardinals for 10 of their last 11 games, but with Siani now back from an oblique strain that had kept him out since early August, he's likely to start on the bench more times than not down the stretch. The 23-year-old has also struggled at the plate in his first taste of major-league pitching in 2024, batting .168 (23-for-137) with two home runs, nine RBI, five stolen bases, 11 runs scored and a .211 on-base percentage in 45 games played. Scott may get an occasional start here or there in the final month, but he mostly figures to operate as a bench bat for St. Louis.

Victor Scott II Sitting Against Padres
6 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Victor Scott II is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium. Scott will take a seat after starting each of the team's last six games. The Cardinals will use Tommy Pham, Lars Nootbaar and Alec Burleson from left to right field, respectively, on Wednesday against Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove. Since returning to the big leagues on Aug. 5, Scott has hit .226 (14-for-62) with two home runs, four doubles, six RBI, three steals, three walks and 21 strikeouts in 19 games. However, he's currently riding a modest four-game hitting streak that has seen him go 4-for-14 with a homer, double, RBI, walk, stolen base and run scored. The 23-year-old outfield prospect has hit only .157 in his first 121 big-league at-bats, but he's intriguing for his speed in NL-only leagues to close out 2024.

Michael Siani Headed To IL, Victor Scott II Set To Be Recalled
7 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Michael Siani (oblique) is headed to the injured list on Sunday, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic. Woo reports that the Cardinals are expected to promote one of their top prospects, Victor Scott II. Siani left Saturday's game early due to oblique tightness and will now be kept out for at least the next ten games. Scott got a brief 21-game stint in the big leagues earlier this season and struggled as he tallied only five hits, with three of them going for extra bases. However, in the minor leagues, he holds a career .268 AVG with an eye-catching 136 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to the Cardinal lineup over the next few days, as Scott could become the everyday center fielder. If he does, he could be worth a look in category leagues as he possesses elite speed and strong contact skills.

Victor Scott II Batting Just Above The Mendoza Line In Triple-A
9 months agoThe St. Louis Cardinals organization's third-ranked prospect, Victor Scott II, began the season in the major leagues after tying the lead in the minors for stolen bases last year with 94. However, he struggled at the plate, batting just .085 in 20 games. As a result, he was sent back down to Triple-A, hoping to rediscover his batting form, but that has yet to happen, as his slash line is 215/.309/.323 in his 35 games since being demoted. While this speedster is a threat on the basepaths, he's had trouble getting on base this year to cause that chaos. Despite his recent struggles, Scott still has plenty of fantasy upside and is an excellent buy-low candidate in dynasty leagues.

Victor Scott II Continues To Struggle In Triple-A
10 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II started the 2024 season on the big-league roster. He hit .085/.139/.136 in 65 plate appearances and was sent down to Triple-A Memphis on April 21st to improve his offensive production. Unfortunately, Scott has continued to struggle since his demotion. In 101 MiLB plate appearances, he's hitting .180/.270/.292 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, and nine stolen bases. Interestingly, his BABIP is just .206, much lower than the league-average .300. Scott may be getting unlucky when he does make contact. However, he's not making enough solid contact. Either way, he's unlikely to rejoin the Cardinals if his offensive numbers don't improve.
