St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II is out of the starting lineup for Game 2 of the series against the visiting Houston Astros at Busch Stadium on Tuesday. Michael Siani will get the nod in center field and will bat ninth against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Scott is St. Louis' primary center fielder, but he'll get a day to rest after going 3-for-17 with six strikeouts in his last five games to drop his season line to .259/.328/.389 with a .717 OPS. The 24-year-old has one homer, seven RBI, seven runs scored and five stolen bases in his first 54 at-bats. Scott should be back in there on Wednesday as he looks to get back on track with the bat. Siani, who has never faced Brown in his career, will be a low-upside DFS play out of the nine-hole on Tuesday. He has gone just 2-for-9 with two runs scored early on in 2025 as a bench player for the Cards.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II is out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Michael Siani is getting the start in center field and will bat eighth against Pirates right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski. It will be Scott's first game off of the 2025 season after getting off to a hot start this year as the team's primary center fielder. The 24-year-old has gone 9-for-32 (.281) with a home run, five RBI, six runs scored and four stolen bases in nine games played. He should be back in there for fantasy managers in Pittsburgh for the second game of the series. Siani, who hits from the left side, has appeared in eight games this year, but he's only been afforded one plate appearance and is hitless with a run scored. He's also hitless in just three career at-bats against Mlodzinski.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II will be the team's center fielder on Opening Day. The Athletic's Katie Woo reported the news. Scott's first taste of big-league action did not go as planned, as he hit .179 over 145 at-bats (53 games) with 11 extra-base hits. However, he's been electric this spring, hitting .366 with four home runs and five stolen bases (1.225 OPS). While that production is likely unsustainable, the 24-year-old projects to boost fantasy managers in the stolen base department. The former fifth-round pick sports an 80 grade for his elite speed and will now get everyday at-bats for St. Louis. He represents a potential cheap source of steals in fantasy drafts and he's going just inside the top 400.--Alex Ciulla

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday. As part of the move, first baseman Luken Baker was reinstated from the paternity list. Scott was very unimpressive in his 2024 season, hitting for just a 40 OPS+ in 145 AB. The 23-year-old did start to perform better once called up in August but ultimately performed below league average at the plate. Though his 2024 debut at the major league level did not go the way he wanted, he should still compete for a roster spot in 2025 given his sprint speed and outfield range may warrant playing time if the Cardinals' outfield goes through injury issues as it did in 2024. Baker has performed well in limited appearances in 2024, hitting for a .737 OPS in 46 PA. Should Baker make any starts to finish the season, he may make an interesting DFS option.--Kevin Larson - RotoBaller

St. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Victor Scott II is heading to the bench for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field with Michael Siani (oblique) returning to center-field duties. Scott had started in center field for the Cardinals for 10 of their last 11 games, but with Siani now back from an oblique strain that had kept him out since early August, he's likely to start on the bench more times than not down the stretch. The 23-year-old has also struggled at the plate in his first taste of major-league pitching in 2024, batting .168 (23-for-137) with two home runs, nine RBI, five stolen bases, 11 runs scored and a .211 on-base percentage in 45 games played. Scott may get an occasional start here or there in the final month, but he mostly figures to operate as a bench bat for St. Louis.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
