Victor Caratini Walks It Off
3 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Victor Caratini stung a walk-off two-run homer Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds, cementing an epic 6-4 victory. Caratini finished 2-for-4 on the evening, coming through with a ninth-inning blast against reliever Amir Garrett to send the crowd home content. The 27-year-old backstop continues to anchor the Friars rotation while slashing a respectable .218/.310/.361 with five homers, two steals and 44 runs-plus-RBI through 168 plate appearances. With Austin Nola (knee) still out for the foreseeable future, Caratini has emerged as a reasonable option in two-catcher formats and should continue making the majority of starts behind the dish.
