Victor Arano Earns First Save
6 years agoAfter Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez recorded a four-out save Tuesday night, manager Gabe Kapler gave another reliever the opportunity to save Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. Holding a three-run lead, Victor Arano was summoned from the bullpen to pitch the eighth inning after ace Aaron Nola tossed seven frames. He would not allow a hit, tossing two shutout innings and striking out three, lowering his ERA to 2.32. The performance would result in the 23-year-old’s first ever save. Like Dominguez, Arano has turned into one of the more trustworthy arms in the bullpen and will only earn more late-game situations with effective performances like Wednesday’s.
