Veteran Reliever Jerry Blevins Returns To A's Organization
6 years agoThe Oakland Athletics signed relief pitcher Jerry Blevins to a minor-league contract, and if he wins a job in the majors he'll be paid $1.5 million. Blevins made his major league debut with the A's back in 2007, and he appeared in 281 games in relief, posting a 13-6 record with a 3.30 ERA across 267 innings while striking out 239 batters with a WHIP of 1.213. He didn't fare as well in the National League over the past five seasons, especially last year with the New York Mets when he was 3-2 with a 4.85 ERA and 1.359 WHIP across 42 2/3 innings over 64 relief appearances. He'll only be worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues using true relievers if he even wins a spot in the Oakland 'pen.
