Tyrie Cleveland Nets 10 Targets In Preseason Opener
1 year agoPhiladelphia Eagles wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland caught 5-of-10 targets and gained 68 yards during the team's 20-19 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The former seventh-round draft pick started the game as the top receiver for Philadelphia and played for most of the contest. The four-pack of A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, and Olamide Zaccheaus rested with most of the other starters on offense, giving Cleveland a chance to put his talent on display in hopes of making the final roster. Besides the previously mentioned four receivers, no one is a lock to make the team. Drawing 10 targets while working with the three backup quarterbacks was a good start for the former Denver Bronco. His main competition, Greg Ward (leg), left the game early after reportedly having cramps. If Cleveland can continue to draw targets when on the field for the next two weeks, there is a shot that he will make the final roster. If not, the 25-year-old should be a near-lock to make the practice squad.
