Tyler Stephenson Cleared To Play, But Not Starting Sunday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (head) was forced to exit Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after he took a foul ball to his face mask. He did not suffer a concussion and prior to Sunday's game, he received medical clearance to play. While he is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game, he will be available off the bench. Michael Perez will be getting the start behind the plate on Sunday. Stephenson has been swinging a hot bat so far this year. Over 23 games, he's slashing .324/.390/.574 with four home runs, 19 RBI and 13 runs. The Reds are off on Monday, but we expect to see him back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians.
