Tyler Rogers Mentioned As Closer Candidate
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi said Tuesday that, in addition to Jake McGee, relief pitcher Tyler Rogers is a good candidate to fill the closer's role for the team this season. The submarine pitcher had a strong 2019 season but a pedestrian 2020 season, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Rogers has had a decent spring, compiling a 3.68 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with four strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings of work. Compared to McGee's excellent spring, it would not be surprising to consider Rogers in second place for the Giants' closer race. However, he is worth keeping an eye on for fantasy managers in deep roto leagues as a potential source of saves and holds.
