Tyler Rogers Exits Following Comebacker
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants reliever Tyler Rogers exited Saturday's Spring Training game after taking a comebacker off his lower right leg. He exited the game without throwing another pitch, but the fact that he was able to walk on his own suggests that his removal could have been merely precautionary. Indeed, the Giants can't afford to lose Rogers, who dominated in 2021. Through 81 innings out of the bullpen, he went 7-1 with a 2.22 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts. Furthermore, he surrendered just five homers and 13 walks. When all was said and done, the right-hander ranked among the league's best relievers in xwOBA, xERA, xSLG, walk rate, barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and opponent exit velocity.
