Tyler Rogers Blows Save, Earns Win Friday
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Tyler Rogers had an interesting night in Friday's 8-5 extra-innings win over the Dodgers. Rogers came on to pitch the ninth inning up three. He got the first out, allowed back-to-back singles, got the second out, then allowed a pinch-hit home run to Austin Barnes to tie the game. He then got the third out on what would have been a walk-off home run by Albert Pujols, but Mike Tauchman made a great catch to bail him out. The Giants went ahead in the 10th and Jarlin Garcia was able to close out the game, making Rogers the winning pitcher. Rogers has been the Giants best reliever this season with a 1.63 ERA and seems to be the new front-runner for save situations, but his last two outings have been shaky. Further, he hardly strikes anyone out with a 12.5% strikeout rate. It still seems like Rogers is the Giants reliever to roster for fantasy at the moment, but any more outings like this one and Jake McGee could get another shot at the ninth inning.
