Tyler Reddick Charges To A Thrilling Victory At Homestead
1 month agoTyler Reddick won Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in thrilling fashion. Starting from the pole position in first, Reddick would lead the opening 33 laps until his first pit stop in the first stage. Despite losing the lead due to a slower pit stop, Reddick regained it later and won the first stage, obtaining maximum stage points. In the second stage, Reddick fell from the lead between stages, and he never returned to the lead and ended the stage in fourth, nabbing more stage points. In the final stage, Reddick ran in the Top 10 until a caution on lap 187. For the preceding green flag run, Reddick made his last green flag pit stop on lap 252, hoping for a caution to force everyone else onto pit road. Reddick got the caution three laps later for a spin after returning to the lead lap. This allowed Reddick to return to the lead on the final restart. Denny Hamlin got the best of Reddick, who fell back to third, but Reddick mounted a charge until the final lap. Reddick got by Hamlin in turn two and powered past Blaney at the end of turn four for the victory. The No. 45 Toyota driver's win was his first at Homestead in his Cup career, and he will make his first-ever appearance in the Championship 4 at Phoenix to compete for the title.
